But I did finish one little project (but only because I could do it indoors, in the AC). I made these:
They are season blocks. They spell out summer, autumn, winter and spring. I ♥ them!
Here's how I made them:
I bought 2" wood blocks from Hobby Lobby. I painted each block a different color with acrylic paint. Then I decoupaged a 2" square piece of decorative/scrapbooking paper onto each side of each block. I chose colors and designs that corresponded with each season. Then I decoupaged the letters (which I cut out with my Cricut, but you could do this by hand - I have only one style of Cricut letter and I'm getting tired of it - I'd really like a Silhouette Craft Cutter, but I digress). After they were thoroughly dry I took 150 grit sandpaper and sanded down the edges to distress and smooth. Then I took 220 grit sandpaper to further smooth the edges.
And finally I sat them on my mantle. Did I say that I ♥ them? I do!
Those are cute!! I have a cricut as well. I have Storybook, Plantin Schoolbook, and Alphalicious and you are more than welcome to come use those whenever!!

ReplyDeleteVery cute! I may have to make those! As far as the Cricut goes, I have the downloaded program "Sure Cuts-A-Lot" to use with my Cricut. If you haven't heard of it, It basically works like the Silhouette Craft Cutter you want. You can use all of your computer's fonts and download more. You just hook your Cricut up to your computer, type it in, and hit cut on the computer. My favorite feature is that it allows you to weld your letters together to make complete words instead of individual letters when you cut. Make sense?
